2022 was a historic year that included Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation granting the not-for-profit hospitals of Morton Plant Mease $16.5 million – the most ever in our history. Gifts from the community help purchase cutting-edge, lifesaving equipment, build state-of-the-art facilities, and support the following innovative programs and services:
Through heartfelt community support, the Foundation provides funding for nearly 10 programs aimed at granting a renewed sense of possibility to survivors and their loved ones. These initiatives encompass every moment that cancer touches people’s lives, from prevention and diagnosis through treatment and survivorship.
We’re proud to honor our medical staff for their dedication and commitment to providing outstanding care. Our community helps fund the Family Medicine Residency program at the Turley Family Health Center that provides physician education and clinical training for 24 residents each year.
More than $1 million was granted to Morton Plant North Bay Hospital to help purchase a new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and build out an expanded radiology reading room in their imaging suite. The new MRI produces higher quality, higher resolution images for doctors, thanks to its more powerful magnet.
The Madonna Ptak Center for Alzheimer’s and Memory Loss offers the latest medication options and research trial opportunities. Coupled with patient and family support services, this center is dedicated to quality of life issues for families living with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory loss conditions.
Thanks to community support, six Tru-D disinfection systems were purchased for our hospitals and the Madonna Ptak Rehabilitation Center. These systems deliver an automated, measured dose of UVC light to help kill deadly pathogens and common health care-associated infection culprits throughout an entire patient room or operating room.
Our hospitals are steadfast in their commitment to achieving compassionate, clinical excellence. Philanthropy helps attract, reward, recognize and retain talented nurses, provide them the tools to enhance their learning, offer professional development programs and distinguish our nurses as leaders.
Our Palliative Care program offers a holistic approach to relieving the pain, suffering and stress for patients experiencing chronic illness with emotional, psychosocial and spiritual support. The focus of this approach is on providing compassionate, specialized attention to the needs of patients and their families.
We’re grateful to our volunteers for helping us meet the needs of our visitors every day. Philanthropy helps fund many volunteer initiatives, including its van transportation service that provides free transportation to and from medical appointments, as well as rides for patients being discharged from the hospital.
The Family Care Fund helps our own team members at the hospitals of Morton Plant Mease with financial assistance when an unexpected emergency occurs in their lives. Last year, the fund approved 100 requests for assistance and provided nearly $125,000 to team members who had nowhere else to turn.
