2022 was a historic year that included Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation granting the not-for-profit hospitals of Morton Plant Mease $16.5 million – the most ever in our history. Gifts from the community help purchase cutting-edge, lifesaving equipment, build state-of-the-art facilities, and support the following innovative programs and services:

Grants supporting CARDIOVASCULAR Care
More than 1,200 donors stepped up to help raise $7 million for the Morgan Heart Hospital Community Challenge. Campaign support will help renovate the hospital’s electrophysiology lab and catheterization lab, as well as build an additional hybrid operating room for our team of expert cardiovascular specialists.

Grants supporting CANCER care

Through heartfelt community support, the Foundation provides funding for nearly 10 programs aimed at granting a renewed sense of possibility to survivors and their loved ones. These initiatives encompass every moment that cancer touches people’s lives, from prevention and diagnosis through treatment and survivorship.

Grants supporting PHYSICIAN education

We’re proud to honor our medical staff for their dedication and commitment to providing outstanding care. Our community helps fund the Family Medicine Residency program at the Turley Family Health Center that provides physician education and clinical training for 24 residents each year.

Grants supporting MORTON PLANT NORTH BAY HOSPITAL

More than $1 million was granted to Morton Plant North Bay Hospital to help purchase a new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and build out an expanded radiology reading room in their imaging suite. The new MRI produces higher quality, higher resolution images for doctors, thanks to its more powerful magnet.

Grants supporting ALZHEIMER'S & Memory Loss

The Madonna Ptak Center for Alzheimer’s and Memory Loss offers the latest medication options and research trial opportunities. Coupled with patient and family support services, this center is dedicated to quality of life issues for families living with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory loss conditions.

Grants supporting Innovative TECHNOLOGY

Thanks to community support, six Tru-D disinfection systems were purchased for our hospitals and the Madonna Ptak Rehabilitation Center. These systems deliver an automated, measured dose of UVC light to help kill deadly pathogens and common health care-associated infection culprits throughout an entire patient room or operating room.

Our hospitals are steadfast in their commitment to achieving compassionate, clinical excellence. Philanthropy helps attract, reward, recognize and retain talented nurses, provide them the tools to enhance their learning, offer professional development programs and distinguish our nurses as leaders.

Grants supporting SPIRITUALITY & HEALING

Our Palliative Care program offers a holistic approach to relieving the pain, suffering and stress for patients experiencing chronic illness with emotional, psychosocial and spiritual support. The focus of this approach is on providing compassionate, specialized attention to the needs of patients and their families.

Grants supporting VOLUNTEER Services

We’re grateful to our volunteers for helping us meet the needs of our visitors every day. Philanthropy helps fund many volunteer initiatives, including its van transportation service that provides free transportation to and from medical appointments, as well as rides for patients being discharged from the hospital.

Grants supporting the FAMILY CARE FUND

The Family Care Fund helps our own team members at the hospitals of Morton Plant Mease with financial assistance when an unexpected emergency occurs in their lives. Last year, the fund approved 100 requests for assistance and provided nearly $125,000 to team members who had nowhere else to turn.

For over 40 years, Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation has provided philanthropic support to the not-for-profit hospitals of Morton Plant Mease Health Care, including Morton Plant, Clearwater; Mease Dunedin; Mease Countryside, Safety Harbor and Morton Plant North Bay, New Port Richey. The close connection between the hospitals of Morton Plant Mease and their neighbors reveal a unique spirit of giving – a relationship characterized by people caring for the hospitals that care for them.

Donor information is kept strictly confidential. We will not share or sell a donor’s personal information with anyone else, nor send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations without written consent from the donor.
